While I was looking through some accumulated boxes of stuff, I found one containing a whole bunch of old white metal miniatures from Ye Olden Times.

This is a Night Hag by Grenadier, dated  1986.

The bottom of the base

Back in those days, the standard nominal figure size for roleplaying minis was 25mm instead of 28 or 32mm, as it is today. This one is quite small even by those standards, and probably stands only about 22mm tall (though I haven't actually measured her).

As a result, the old style white metal miniatures from back in the '80s don't really mix well with modern sculpts, especially when you take into account the propensity for "heroic" sculpting, which might swell a nominally 28mm mini to 35mm.

It looks like when I painted this figure, all those years ago, I varnished it with a satin enamel varnish, as was my wont at the time. I found the satin more hard-wearing than matte, and it didn't dull the colours the way that matte varnish can.
